For various security reasons, it was time to improve and update our student password policies. We now have a policy where each student has a unique default password (which they should still change), but can be known/determined by parents/guardians who have access to Blackbaud. This makes each student's password unique, secure, and easily recoverable. In the future, if their password needs to be reset, it will be to this new default pattern. We will no longer be using generic passwords.
How to determine the new default password:
We will be using an example test student named Pete Jackson. The pattern for his default password is as follows:
- Capitalized first letter of his first name. P
- Lowercase first letter of his last name. j
- Student ID (found in Blackbaud, see below) 1234567
- Exclamation point. !
Put it all together and his password would be Pj1234567!
If your student has a hyphenated last name like Smith-Jones, then you need to use the first letter of the first part of the last name, in this case, the "s" in Smith.
Ask your parent/guardian to log into their Blackbaud Account to locate your student ID.
To see your student's ID follow these steps.
- Login to Blackbaud.
- If you have more than one student enrolled, select the student in question from the Children drop-down menu in the upper left corner of your screen. If you only have 1 child enrolled in King's Way you will see your child's name appear in the upper left corner.
- Click on the Contact Card tab for the student and under General Information you will see their Student ID.
