Campus Safety/Security Notification System

This article will: explain what InformaCast is and why King’s Way uses it, shows how to install and login to InformaCast, and how to use InformaCast.

What is InformaCast?

InformaCast is used as a mass notification system for both mobile and on-premises devices. InformaCast notifications via your King’s Way email account will occur automatically, but texts and app notifications must be added to your account individually. Why do I need InformaCast?

This app will let admins know who specifically is answering emergency alerts and will allow you to view previous alerts. Knowing specifically who answers the emergency alerts helps admins keep accurate information during an incident.


How do Notifications work?

When a drill or an incident is initiated, you will get at least one copy of a notification, possibly three, you only need to respond using one methodIf you are a Learning Center employee, you will receive notifications from the classroom via the classroom iPad and as an employee and notifications. 


  • The App: you will get the notification with instructions for the incident and a Confirm button that asks you to select an option to report your status.

  • Email Address: you will get an email with instructions for the incident and buttons/links that are the options to report your status. Click/tap one of those buttons/links to report your status.

  • Cell Phone: you will get a text with instructions for the incident and a list of numbers to reply with to report your status. For example, 1=Yes, 2=No, depending on the drill.


How do I install and login to InformaCast?


NOTE: The InformaCast app is installed on all Windows desktop PCs in classrooms and offices, but as InformaCast has to be installed and signed into, some (Chrome/Windows OS) laptops or rooms that have been shuffled around may not have InformaCast either installed or logged into properly.

1. Follow this link OR Install the app (iOS or Android)

2. At the page below, input your KW email address (If it does not recognize your email address please submit an IT ticket). 

3. Select your KW Google account (If no accounts are present, select the "Use another account" option and login with your KW email account).


Go to: Check that InformaCast is open



Chromebooks:

InformaCast is set to auto-install and pin, you will see the InformaCast app on your taskbar a few minutes after login. If you do not see it, you can search for it in the Google Play store to install and open the app.


1. Open InformaCast


2. Log In - Use your King’s Way email and password


Input your King’s Way email address


It will kick you to your browser, continue the sign-in process.


Once logged in, you will see the app.


Go to: Check that InformaCast is open


Windows:

1. Search your computer for the Microsoft Store - search for the InformaCast app - install the app


2. Open InformaCast


3. Log In - Use your King’s Way email and password


Input your King’s Way email address


It will kick you to your browser, continue the sign-in process.

 



Once logged in, you will see the app.



4. Update InformaCast app settings


Open the InformaCast app - select the hamburger menu in the top left side



Select the “About” button



Select the “Open Setting” button

(this will open InformaCast specific setting in your device’s settings app)



The following is shown on 

Windows 10

“Background apps” - “On”

“Runs at log-in” - “InformaCast” - “On”

The following is shown on 

Windows 11

“Let this app run in background” - “Always”

“Runs at log-in” - “InformaCast” - “On”




Check that InformaCast is open

PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT THE INFORMACAST APP IS OPEN AT ALL TIMES. 

The app MUST be open in order to function correctly.

The app will have a line underneath it when the application is open. 


If you do not see the line underneath the app icon, please open InformaCast (either select the icon on the taskbar, or search for “InformaCast" on your computer’s search bar and open the application). 

Do not exit/quit the app. It does not automatically run in the background. It must be open and running in order to work. Feel free to minimize the window so it's out of your way.
