Creating a Canvas Account for Parents (Observers)

Parents can create an account with Canvas to observe their student's class activity on Canvas. Canvas calls this kind of an account an "observer" account. Here is what you will need to create this account and the steps to creating one.

Before you can create a Parent/Observer account, your student will need to generate a pairing code in their account. You will need this code in order to create your account and connect to your student's account.

Once you have the pairing code for your student you can follow these steps to create your Parent/Observer account.

1. Visit https://kwcs.instructure.com/login/canvas
2. Click on the link in the upper-right that says "Parent of a Canvas User? Click Here For An Account."
   
   
   
3. A new pop-up appears. Fill in your name, the email address you would like to use with Canvas, the password you would like to use, and the Student Pairing Code from your student. Check the box for "I'm not a robot" then click the "Start Participating" button.
   
   
   

You should now be logged in to Canvas. To log in again later with your email address and password, visit https://kwcs.instructure.com/login/canvas which is also linked on our Login Central page at https://kwcs.org/login under the Canvas section.
